South Carolina State Law
Tattooing Restrictions

Not in South Carolina!

South Carolina State Law prohibits tattooing above the neckline,
this includes head, neck, and face!
We can, however, tattoo you ANYWHERE on YOUR body at any of our
Ink Link Tattoos & Piercings
locations in North Carolina.

In South Carolina you must be 21 to sign for yourself to get a tattoo!
If you are 18, 19, or 20, your parent (or legal guardian with court documentation) has to sign for you
the first time, then you can sign for yourself at the same tattoo shop.

We do not understand how you are not your own legal guardian
at eighteen either, but it is the law, so we abide by it.

Please feel free to write and call your state representative (Is that an oxymoron or a truism?)
and Governor Sanford. Perhaps they will clarify or change things if there is enough public outcry.

You cannot be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and get tattooed.

You cannot be pregnant and get tattooed.

If you have any medical conditions or allergies to inks, or latex, you should
consult your physician before getting tattooed, and let your
artist know before you start!

(Thanks to Donnie King of Gastonia, NC, for the use of his head in demonstrating
"How not to get tattooed in South Carolina!)
